Brown Funeral Home is a locally owned family funeral home that was established on September 2, 1992 in Eads, Colorado by Jimmy R. Brown. In 1997, a second location was added in Kit Carson, Colorado and on July 4, 2004 the location in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado was added. On August 28, 2010 the Brown family opened their funeral home in Burlington, CO. Brown Funeral Home is a complete funeral home offering advance funeral planning, at need funeral services, including cremation services and memorial monuments. Brown Funeral Home began because Jimmy R. Brown saw a need for quality, affordable funeral service in small towns. Being raised on a cattle ranch south of Chivington, Colorado in Eastern Kiowa County, he realized that just because we don't have Wal-Mart, why should families have to drive 30 to 60 miles during a time that is difficult enough. Therefore, out of the need for local funeral service the Brown's began their endeavor to bring quality, affordable funeral service to rural Eastern Colorado. Jimmy and Amanda are both graduates of Eads High School in Eads, Colorado. Jimmy has been a licensed embalmer/funeral director since 1991. He obtained his A.S. degree in Ag-Management from Lamar Community College and his B.S. degree in Mortuary Science from Central State University in Edmond, OK. During his time in Oklahoma, he was an embalmer/funeral director for Smith & Kernke Funeral Directors of Oklahoma City, OK. Amanda completed her B.S. degree work at the University of Northern Colorado and holds a degree in accounting and is a certified public accountant. The Brown's have two children: Lauren and Ross. They are members of the Praise Community Church and are active in numerous activities and serve on multiple boards in the communities they serve. They are committed to serving the funeral service needs of rural eastern Colorado. They also believe that funeral directors should be held to a higher account than most. The Brown Funeral Home family is comprised of quality, highly trained funeral professionals who care deeply about their faith in God and their passion to serve others. When a family entrusts the care of their loved one for funeral arrangements, this is the highest degree of trust that a family can offer.
