Brown Funeral Home

The Brown Funeral Home building in Eads has a long, long rich history in Kiowa County. The building was built originally by Mr. Mays in the early 1940's for the congregation of the Evangelical United Brethren congregation. After the EUB congregation joined the congregation of the United Methodist Church, the building was purchased by the Re-organized Latter Day Saints congregation. Jimmy R. Brown then purchased the building from the RLDS and converted it into the Brown Funeral Home. The original bell that was on the building was donated by the Brown's to the Eads United Methodist Church, and this bell currently sits atop the bell tower of the Methodist Church, and brings back many fond memories for much of the Eads Community every time they hear it ring. The facility in Eads is equipped with a complete chapel facility that seats 120 with an attached family room that seats 30. It has a complete casket selection room, arrangement room, preperation room and office. The building has been upgraded to completely modern standards, while at the same time maintaining much of the original craftmanship of its original builder. The original chandaliers are still in the chapel. The original lighted christian cross cut out in the front of the building in still in perfect condition. This facility is more than ample for holding funeral services.
