Ann Erwin Grinnan

Ann Erwin Grinnan was born on June 13, 1932 to Margaret Kelly and Toby Erwin of Dallas, TX. She was beloved by her two sisters, Sally Reeder, Kelly Fain, and her brother, Toby Erwin. She attended Hockaday Girl’s School, Smith College, and the University of Texas, where she met Joseph Grinnan.

She married Joseph on April 16, 1955 in Dallas, TX. Together they welcomed their children, Erwin, Campion, Joseph, George, William, Michael, Margaret, Daniel, and Ann into the world. In 1968, the family settled in Durango, CO, where Ann would spend many happy years devoted to her family. Once her children were grown, Joseph and Ann moved to Tucson, AZ from 1989 to 2002, before moving to Burlington, CO, to be closer to family.

A lifelong Traditional Catholic, Ann’s faith in Christ was foundational to her. She loved her faith deeply and sought to reflect Christ’s love, charity, and humility every day. As a member of the Third Order of St. Francis, she was often praying for her family and country. Her unwavering faith is a shining example to us all. Ann was a true patriot, a member of the John Birch Society, who loved America and held its ideals close to her heart. Her pride in her nation and gratitude for its blessings remained constant throughout her whole life.

Ann’s greatest treasure could be found in her name, Nana. Her husband, children and grandchildren were her utmost joy. Her door was always open for a chat, a cup of coffee, and the guest bedroom was always prepared. Her wisdom, wit, warmth, and love were a true gift to each of us.

Nana was a woman of prayer and principle. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, patriotism, and love that will continue to guide her family for many generations to come.

She entered into eternity on June 10, 2026, at the age of 93, surrounded by her family.

Preceded in death by her husband Joseph Grinnan, son Erwin Grinnan, son-in-law Patrick Hornung, grandson Brien Grinnan, and granddaughters Madeleine Hornung and Lydia Jolly.

She is survived by her children, Campion (Paula) Grinnan, of Farmington, NM. Joseph (Veronica) Grinnan, of Gouldsboro, Maine. George (Erin) Grinnan, of Burlington, CO. William (Cathy) Grinnan of Redlands, CA. Michael (Linda) Grinnan of Burlington, CO. Margaret (R. J.) Jolly, of Kit Carson, CO. Daniel (Katy) Grinnan of Burlington, CO. Ann (Jed) Goodnow of Burlington, CO. And 60 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. 

In Lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to either the Immaculate Conception Church in Burlington or the Sacred Heart Academy in Burlington. 

A Recitation of the Rosary will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church in Burlington, CO on June 19, 2026 at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church in Burlington, CO on June 20, 2026 at 10:00 am with Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Stratton, CO.
