Cleo Corinne (Craghead) Wyler was born April 14, 1933 in Jetmore, Kansas. She died November 17, 2010 at home in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado with her loving husband Fred by her side.
Cleo, also known as Duke was the daughter of Harry E. Craghead and Blanche (Pfiester) Craghead. She had one older sister, Dolly and one younger brother, Harry E. Jr.
Cleo attended school in Jetmore, graduating and continuing her education in business at Hutchinson, Kansas. After school she went to work at Reger Rental where she met her husband to be. Cleo and Fred were married September 5, 1954 in Jetmore. They lived in Hutchinson, Kansas where there only child Fred A. Wyler III was bom. They moved from Hutchinson to Cheyenne Wells, Colorado October 2, 1960.
Cleo worked with her husband at the Cheyenne County fairgrounds, the Cheyenne Wells schools, Cheyenne Coop and United Grain. Cleo retired in 1983.
Cleo loved the farm that she was raised on north of Jetmore, Kansas and she took every opportunity she could to return to the farm. She loved to knit and had made several custom design sweaters for family and friends. She was an avid reader and has numerous books. In her earlier years when they first moved to Cheyenne Wells Duke spent her summers gardening with her close family friend Maxine Smith.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her sister Dolly and her brother Harry E Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Fred of 56 years, her son Fred and wife Carla of Limon, Colorado, two grandsons Robert "Newt" Wyler of Greeley, Colorado, Preston Wyler and wife Mary Ann of Limon, Colorado and three great grandsons, Krissttorffer Rice of Limon, Colorado and Nikolas and Jalen Wyler of Simla, Colorado.
A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 21, 2010 at Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado with Pastor Tom Burch officiating. Mr. Kelly Beek was the vocalist with Marilyn Boswell as the organist. Honorary pall bears are her grandsons and great grandsons and close friend Mike Smith.
