Longtime Stratton, Colorado resident Daniel (Boone) Schulte passed away unexpectedly at his home on February 22, 2025. He was 70 years old. Daniel Leo Schule was born on November 6th, 1954, in Burlington, CO to Joe and Clara (Ritcher) Schulte. He was welcomed home by his three older brothers and eventually his baby sister 2 years later.

On the weekends when he wasn’t helping his dad on the farm, Daniel could be found at the movies with his siblings or in the Quonset with the neighborhood boys/cousins playing basketball. He loved showing off his skills on the court and played basketball all through school and even earned his famous nickname Boone.  He graduated from Stratton High School in 1973.

Boone might have just been a bachelor his whole life, but he was well-known in the community for his Big Foot pickups and for being a gentle giant. He loved his nieces and nephews and enjoyed watching them play sports or go to school events and was everyone’s favorite Uncle Boone. In his past time, he could be found riding motorcycles, working on his vehicles, listening to music or hanging out with the Knox boys at their body shop. Boone enjoyed the summers where he could go to local demolition derbies, car shows, and tractor pulls with his family. Boone loved his Packers and Monster Jam and enjoyed his Fast and Furious series and John Wick to name a few of his favorite movies.

Boone worked for neighboring farmers, the Hornung’s and Paulter’s while he could work and enjoyed driving eighteen wheelers. On April 6, 2017 would change his life forever when he had a bad truck accident and could not drive semi anymore.  

Daniel survived by his siblings: Jerry (Brenda) Schulte, Tony Schulte and Linda (Gordon) Tauchen, sister-in-law Jacklin Schulte, all of Stratton, CO. And all his nieces and nephews Troy (Sarah) Schulte, Jena Schulte, Blake (Mariah) Schulte, Joy Schulte, Stephanie (Rex) Tauchen, ChevyLee Schulte and Bonetta Schulte and Great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, brother Larry and infant sister Josphine and his nephew Travis Schulte and many uncles and aunts and a few cousins.

Funeral services will be held on March 3rd, 2025 at the St. Charles Catholic Church in Stratton, CO and buried at the Calvary Cemetery following. Memorial Contribution can be made to The Leukemia Society, Donor Services PO Box 22324 New York, NY 10087 in lieu of flowers in Daniel’s name.
