Dennis Lee Wheeler, 63, passed away on May 2, 2026, at Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital.

Dennis was born on July 7, 1962, in Burlington, Colorado, to Gary and Bonnie Wheeler. He grew up in the Burlington area and was a proud graduate of Burlington High School, Class of 1980. Later, his family was completed with the addition of his sister, Denise and a special friend Brother Troy.

Dennis was a man deeply rooted in his faith and devoted to his family. He was a proud supporter of veterans and first responders, always holding great respect for those who serve. Known for his kind heart and generous spirit, Dennis was someone who never hesitated to lend a helping hand or bring a smile to someone’s face.

He found joy in working on small engines, participating in garden tractor pulling, fishing, and driving trucks. Above all, Dennis cherished the time he spent with his family. He especially loved being a grandfather and great-grandfather, a role he embraced with pride and joy.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Kim Wheeler; his children, Seth, Paige, Tate, and Jazmine; his stepdaughters, Kelle and Krystal; his sister, Denise; thirteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, with another on the way; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Dennis’s life was a testament to faith which he rededicated his life to the Lord on Easter of 2024, kindness, and love for family. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.

A viewing will be held at the First Christian Church in Burlington, CO at 9:45 am with a Funeral service to follow. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. 

Memorial Contributions may be made at any ECB location in Dennis' name to be used towards a new dialysis machine at Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital.
