Dorothy E. Berry, the youngest daughter of Fred and Elizabeth Eder, was born on March 31, 1917 in Eads, CO and died August 14, 2008 at Weisbrod Memorial Hospital. Dorothy was 91 years old.
Dorothy attended the Eads schools for 12 years. After graduation Dorothy went to work helping her dad and brothers on the family ranch. She continued to live and help on the ranch until her marriage to George W. Berry on March 11, 1945. To this union one child was born, Ralph.
In 1952 George and Dorothy moved 11 miles northeast of Eads to build a cattle ranch. She continued to live on the ranch until Georges death in 1995. At this time, Dorothy moved in with her son and his family until her time of death.
Dorothy was a devoted wife and mother, and was especially fond of her granddaughters Tobi and Riki.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband George of 50 years, mother, father, and three brothers Ralph, Roland, and Raymond.
She leaves to mourn her passing her son Ralph, daughter-in-law Kelli, two granddaughters Tobi (Monti Crawford) and Riki (Cody Cordova), a sister Ruth, one sister-in-law Hannah, a niece Janice (Don Pfingston), a nephew Marlin (Pat) Eder, and numerous other close relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Dorothy E. Berry were held at 10:00 a.m., Monday August 18, 2008 at the United Methodist Church. Nancy Peacock officiated the services. Monica Uhland accompanied by Betty Crow sang Beyond the Sunset and Lifes Railway to Heaven.
Dorothy loved to hear Charlie Pride and the Statler Brothers sing so musical selections were used for the prelude and postlude.
Serving as casketbeares for Mrs. Berry were Richard Lightcap, John Reed, Kevin Davis, Milton Watts, Monti Crawford, and Cody Cordova.
Final committal services were held at the Eads Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Eads Senior Citizens Ceramics.
