Ella Jean Schaal Leoffler was born on February 27, 1923 to William F. and Leona (Sharp) Schaal. She departed this life for her heavenly home on March 30, 2010 in Carbondale, Colorado at the Heritage Park Care Center.

Jeanne was married to James Leoffler on January 8, 1945. To this union five children were born: Sondra Lee, James Robert, Alice Elaine, Marilyn Katherine and Christine.

Jeanne and Jim were married for sixty-one years, working, farming and raising their family together. Jeanne was a great cook and she canned the rewards of her garden every year. She liked to collect antiques and dolls. She loved her children and her greatest joy was her grandchildren. She liked the holidays when the family could all be together and have a good time. After Jims death she went to live with her daughter Sondra in Carbondale and thoroughly enjoyed all the children in Sondras daycare business.

Jeanne is survived by her children, Sondra and Walter Daugherty, James and Doris Leoffler, Alice and Bernard Smith and Marilyn and Charles Turner. She is survived by her grandchildren: Mathew and Oliviya Daugherty, Kevin and Kacey Daugherty, Michael Leoffler, Sarah Leoffler, Brenda and Greg Martell, Bernie Smith, Christie Smith, Dustin Smith, Tonya and Carlton Graves, Charlie and Michelle Turner, Thomas Turner, Patrick Turner and Gordon Turner as well as her great grandchildren: Eric, Tyler, John and Bralyn Martell, Taylor, C.J., and Kyra Turner, Landon and Ella Daugherty, Karyssa and Kolton Daugherty, Grace and Isabella Graves. She is also survived by her sisters Betty Reimer, Shirley Matthies, Gladys Byington and her brother Virgil Schaal. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Jim, her parents Bill and Leona Schaal, infant daughter Christine and sister Wilma Smelker.
