Funeral services for Kit Carson, Colorado area farmer and rancher, Emmett Howard Thrasher were held on Saturday November 8, 2008 at the United Methodist Church in Kit Carson, Colorado with the Rev. Burry Bessee officiating. Mrs. Charlotte Woelk served as the pianist with Mrs. Kathy Shade as the vocalist. The musical selections were The Old Rugged Cross and On The Wings Of A Snow White Dove. Casketbearers were: Jack M. Dixon, Michael Dixon, Richard Najera, Sam Gordan, Robert Sadorus and Gary Riggins. Those recognized as honorary casketbearers were all of Emmetts friends and the nurses at Weisbrod that were so kind to him.


Emmett Howard Thrasherwas born in Kisemet, Kansas the son of Ezra Leonard Thrasher andMartha Almedia Carr Thrasher. Emmett spent his adult life raising cattle and sheep and farming 17 miles north of Kit Carson, Colorado. Emmett was a very kind and honest man who will be remembered as a very hard working man. After his wife Alines death in 1998, Emmett continued to live at his home until moving to the Parish Care Center and then to the Weisbrod Nursing Home in 2006. Emmett and Aline were blessed with four children.


Emmett died on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at the age of 98 years, 1 month and 25 days. He is survived by his three children Tommy (Arlene) Thrasher of Parker, CO, Eunice Honeybelle (Jack) Dixon of Eads, CO and Dorothy P. (Richard) Najera of Commerce City, CO, 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren as well as by one brother Earl Thrasher of North Carolina. Emmett was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Aline, one daughter, two brothers and one granddaughter.
