Solomon Floyd Cordova Jr. of Haswell, Colorado peacefully passed away in Colorado Springs, CO. on January 21 2009.
Floyd was an avid rancher, cowhand, heavy equipment operator, hunter, and PRCA cowboy his entire adult life.
Floyd was born in Redwing, CO. to Solomon Floyd Cordova Sr. and Eleanor Cordova on August 16, 1936.
He is survived by his wife Billie Cordova, his three daughters, Markita McKamie of Colorado Springs, CO., Rhonda Neilson of Silverthorne, CO, Shea Lynne Cordova of Eads, CO. and his three sons J.C. Cordova of Ft. Riley, KS., Cody Cordova of Ft. Colliins, CO., and Brandon Cordova of Ft. Benning, GA. Floyd is also survived by five sisters, Ida Foley of Vallejo, CA., Liz Chacon of Monte Vista, CO., Dorothy Cardenas of Canon City, CO., Chris Andrews of Vernal, UT., Anna Mae Roddy of Red Bluff, CA., and five brothers, Ernest Cordova of Denver, CO., Timothy Cordova of Grand Junction, CO., Bob Cordova of Midland, TX., Marvin Cordova of Buena Vista, CO., and Rudy Cordova of Red Wing, CO. Floyd also leaves behind seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents Solomon Floyd Cordova Sr. and Eleanor Cordova, as well as by two sisters, Mildred Tedrow and Ruby Maloff, and one brother, Jerry Cordova.
Floyd was severely injured during a ranching accident in 1995 that left him without the use his legs. His family and friends have supported, prayed and comforted him during his later years and he will be dearly missed by his family and community.
Funeral services were held on Monday January 26, 2009 at the Haswell Community Building in Haswell, Colorado with Pastor Jack Martin officiating. Mrs. Love Liebl provided the prelude and postlude music with Floyds brother Bobby Cordova providing the vocal music. Casketbearers were: T.J. Cordova, Carl Cardenas, Billy Cordova, Casey Cordova, Tyrone Maestas and Rick Foley. Honorary casketbearers were: Uriah Maestas, Tab Ramsey, Guy Shaffer, Rory Andrews, Kenny Andrews, Jesse Cordova, Shane Lessenden Jr. and all of Floyds many friends. Final committal services were held at the Haswell Cemetery in Haswell, Colorado.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Floyd Cordova Memorial Fund in care of the Kiowa County National Bank in Eads, Colorado. Friends and family can register online condolences and sign the guest book at www.brownfuneraldirectors.com. Visitation and funeral services were entrusted to the care of the Brown Funeral Home in Eads, Colorado.
