Gary Dean Moore Obituary

Gary was the fourth of five children born to Ethel Juanita Rohren Moore and Walter Lewis Moore. He was born in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado, and made his home here from birth until his early 20s. He married Kathryn Lucille Toles on June 20, 1970 and they briefly resided in Dodge City, Kansas before returning to Cheyenne Wells, where their first three children were born. On February 10, 1974, he started a 20-year career with Halliburton Services, relocating to Lamar, Colorado, where they lived until they moved back to Cheyenne Wells on July 30, 1993. Along the way, they added a fourth child to their family and their life became busy with Scouts, T-ball, baton twirling, music recitals, plays, and every activity where their children would need support, encouragement, and cheerleading from the sidelines.

Garys dedication to his Halliburton career lead everyone to believe that oil was in his veins. In the oil field, he was known for extraordinary luck in fixing the things others could not and retrieving lost tools. His work was dear to him and his work ethic was one of his most closely held values. He attempted at all times to instill his work ethic in his children.

After moving back to Cheyenne Wells in the 90s, Gary worked at Techline Tool Co for a time. He left to become one of several partners in a new venture, and was until his death a valued employee and shareholder in Midcon Oil Tools. In his downtime, however, he loved nothing more than to share his fondness for hotrods with his grandchildren, children, and friends. He made time to help others, serving as a volunteer Fire Fighter for six years. He was a loving, giving, and kind person and his final act was helping a stranded family member. He thoroughly enjoyed the many, many big family get-togethers afforded him by living near and among so many family members and friends.

Preceding him in death are a baby sister, Gloria Marie Moore, both parents, Walt and Juanita Moore, daughter Gari Sue Moore, and infant grandson Camden Gary Scott Moore and brothers-in-law Roy Earl Toles and Robert Culberth. He leaves to cherish his memory Kathy, his wife of 37 years, along with his children and their families. Rachel and Mike Yamiolkoski and their daughter Krysia, Scott and Shirley Moore and their children Vicky, Nichole, and Sam, and Kelli and John Adamson and their children Tia, Tanisha, Levi, and Ryan will miss P-pa dearly. He also leaves three brothers, John and wife Carol Moore, Don and wife Thelda Moore, and Darrell and wife Ardy Moore, his mother- and father-in-law Lucille and Carl Ambrosier, Winnona Toles, Carla Pfeifer, and Doyle Ambrosier, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews. As easily as he made friends, we know that many, many people will remember him with love.

He was an officer in and a proud member of the C.W. Rod and Run Club and wouldnt want to miss a morning with Nans Breakfast Club. His passions were playing with his grandchildren, building and showing hot rod cars, and collecting eagles. He loved having coffee with the guys, making breakfast burritos, watching car shows on television, and puttering around in the garage with whatever new toy came his way. We will miss his boisterous laugh, his way with children, and his willingness to help. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Until we are together again, he will always be in our hearts.

Charitable contributions in his name may be made to C.W. Rod and Run Club or the Cheyenne Wells Volunteer Fire Department.

A celebration of Garys life was held on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at the Cheyenne Wells Christian Church in Cheyenne Wells, CO. Pastor Mike Lewis officiated.
