Graveside service will be held for Imogene Elrick November 12, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at the Flagler Cemetery.
Imogene Elrick, of Burlington, formerly of Flagler, Colorado was born November 4, 1930 passed away November 1, 2011 at her home in Burlington losing her battle with lung cancer.
Imogene, also known as Jeannie, was born 12 miles north of Flagler. She was the youngest of eight children. She attended a country school, Liberty District, through the eighth grade and then moved to Flagler to finish high school as there were no buses at that time. She worked for her room and board at various places in Flagler including Walters Hotel and Caf waiting tables, clerking at Thompsons Grocery Store, Crisps Store and in her senior year she took a job at the telephone office. During this time she lived with her sister Kay and in her sophomore year she moved in to an apartment above Ottemans Grocery Store with her sister Mamie who was a school teacher.
On October 1, 1948 she was married to Raymond Elrick of Flagler and to this union was born four children Jesse, Mark, Marcia and Willard. Mark and Willard died in infancy.
They farmed and ranched north of Flagler building a house in 1954 at 1505 Road HH living there until moving to town in October of 1995. During these years Jeannie was employed at various places including the telephone office, Colorado Bird Seed and the U.S. Post Officer while being a wife, mother and homemaker.
Jeannie enjoyed family and friends, playing softball, card games, gardening and in later years she quilted, crocheted and passed her time putting puzzles together.
Jeannie was preceded in death by her parents Loyal and Emma Kyle, her sisters Lois, Evelyn, Mamie, Mildred and her brother Robert, her husband Raymond, two sons Mark and Willard. She is survived by her sister Kay Daniel of Burlington, brother Tom Kyle and his wife Dolores of Burlington, her daughter Marcia Fyock of Swink, her son Jesse and wife Leta of Flagler, grandchildren and great grandchildren Wayne Elrick and his children Emmalyn and Matthew of Minneapolis, MN, Holli and husband Dave Jarmuth and their children Daniel and Kelly of Colorado Springs, CO and Nathan Fyock and his wife Kari and grandson to be of Grand Junction, CO.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Caring Hands Hospice, 286 16th St., Burlington, CO 80807 or to the Community Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 101, Flagler, CO 80815, or can be dropped off at the Mortuary
