James Edwin Lafferty was born to Edwin Alfred Lafferty and Ruby Estelene Lafferty (Schrimp) on May 4, 1940 in Kit Carson, Colorado.
James grew up in the Kit Carson Area, where he graduated from High-school. After High-school, he joined the U.S. Navy, where he served for over 20 years.
He had a second career with the Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office, eventually reaching the position of Sheriff.
James is preceded in death by his wife, Billie Jean (Naugle) Lafferty, and his son David Lafferty. His parents, Sister and Brothers.
He is survived by his current wife, Elizabeth Lafferty (Cobb). His children April, Ridgecrest CA, Jim (Bonni) of Fort Collins, CO, and Scott Lafferty of Shawnee, OK. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025 at 12:30 p.m. at the Kit Carson Cemetery.
