John "Jack" J. Liebl Obituary
John Joseph Liebl passed away July 24, 2012, at his home in Eads, Colorado. Jack was born May 24, 1947, in Goodland, Kansas. On July 10, 1970, he and Meriam Love Jarrett were married. Jack was a longtime farmer and resident of Eads.
Jack grew up in the town of Stratton. Colorado. His parents were Ambrose and Magdalen Liebl. Siblings are Mary Lou (Zink), Nancy (Schessler), and Jim Liebl. Jack attended St Charles Parochial School and then graduated from Stratton High School in 1965. Upon graduation, Jack attended the state barber college in Pueblo, Colorado, where he earned his Barber License in 1965. This life-long skill would be used in the Navy, later at a barber shop in Stratton, as well as in the family garage in Eads, where friends would stop by for a game of pool and a haircut.
Jack joined the United States Navy in May of 1966 and went into basic training in San Diego. His first and only station was in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, where he served on the ship as a barber. Jack completed his enlistment and was discharged on February 9, 1970.
While in Hawaii. Jack lived on Waikiki Beach next door to Meriam Love Jarrett, originally of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Jack and Love married July 10, 1970, in Burlington, Colorado. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Liebl then settled in Stratton, Colorado, where Jack barbered and Love taught at Stratton High School.
In May of 1972, they moved to Eads and had their first child. Jack and Love had four children: Destiny Duff, Ambrose Zane, Amber Dawn, and Jeremiah "Tuck" George.
Eads is where Jack started his 40 year career as a farmer and rancher. The family lived north of Galatea and raised mainly wheat. In 1980, Jack moved just east of Eads, where he would live for the rest of his life. Jack took pleasure in fishing and waterskiing with his children, nieces, and nephews. He had cows and enjoyed calving season and leading the cows around with the white Dodge. His children will remember the special, unique gifts Jack would surprise them with, such as a large sled and a fort to play in. One of the family's favorite pastimes was playing games. Jack taught the kids to play pinochle, bridge, and Monopoly.
Later in life he took up painting. He painted trucks, buildings, birds and his favorite: portraits of family, friends and acquaintances. Jack and the grandkids would paint together up in the art room. He was proud to have a "One Man Show" at the Artist of The Plains Gallery in Eads.
Jack trusted Jesus as his Lord and Savior in 1981. He was a member of the Sheridan Lake Bible Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ambrose and Magdalen Liebl and son Ambrose Zane Liebl. He is survived by wife Love; sisters Mary Lou (Tom) Zink of Bayfield, CO, Nancy (Jake) Schessler of Klafflin, KS, and Jim (Pam) Liebl of Fort Collins, CO; daughter Destiny Duff and husband Jay Haase of Eads; daughter Amber and husband Bryan Kinnaman of Auburn, NE; and son Tuck and wife Jo Liebl of Eads.
