Joseph McIntyre Obituary

Joseph Eual McIntyre Jr., age 77, was born on February 25, 1930 in Pace, Mississippi to Joseph Eual McIntyre Sr. and Edith B. Morris. He left this life on Sunday, June 10, 2007 at his home in Loveland, Colorado, surrounded by his family.

Joseph Joe attended W.G. Smiley Elementary until the 6th grade. He then entered the work force to help support his family. At the age of 14, he joined the military, serving in the Army, Navy, and Marines. He served in WWII and The Korean Conflict.

Following his military career, he joined a harvest crew bringing him to Colorado. He loved the area and chose to stay there working for Grace and Calvin Paxon. It was at that time, he met his wife Judy. They were married on June 9, 1962. They celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on the day before his passing.

Their son, Dennis, was born in 1963, their daughter Shelly in 1965, and their daughter Connie, in 1966.

Joe began working for Wayne and Betty Tallman on their farm located South of Cheyenne Wells, Colorado in 1964. He then relocated his family west of Cheyenne Wells where he worked for Irene Lowe. Later, his farming knowledge took him to the Weskan Kansas community where he worked for Loid Koehn and Lawrence Purvis. His passion for irrigated land took him to Tribune, Kansas where he worked as an irrigation farmer for Smith Ranch, under the direction of Joe Smith and sons. In 1987 Joe and Judy moved to Haddam Kansas where he later retired. Although retired, Joe always had to be busy. He did some farming for the Zenger Family and also worked for Walthers Oil Company. In 2000, to be closer to their children, they moved back to Tribune, Kansas. After many visits to their daughter Connie in Loveland, Colorado, they chose to settle there in 2006.

Joe was a good friend to all. Although he worked hard, he always found time to play. He loved auctions, flea markets, and garage sales. Whatever you needed, Joe always found a way to get, even times, in multiples. Joe had a genuine weakness for children. He was grandpa to many but his granddaughters and great grandson were truly the apples of his eye.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, three sisters, his father-in-law and brother-in-law.

He is survived by his wife Judy of the home, his son Dennis McIntyre and wife Charity of Tribune, Kansas, a daughter Shelly Wishon of Tribune, Kansas, and a daughter Connie Mathes and her husband Lewis of Loveland, Colorado. Granddaughters, Hilleri Koehn and her husband Bryon of Hugoton, Kansas, Kyndall Mathes and friend Michael Brietkreutz of Loveland, Colorado, Jenean, Jasmine, Rebecca, and Sarah McIntyre of Tribune, Kansas. A great grandson Remington Koehn of Hugoton, Kansas. And his mother-in-law, Gertrude Ryser of Cheyenne Wells, Colorado.

A Remembrance and Celebration of Joes life was held Thursday, June 14, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cheyenne Wells Christian Church with the Pastor Mike Lewis officiating.
