Karalyn died at her home in Eads with her family by her side following a courageous battle with cancer.

Karalyn was born July 7th, 1954 in Eads, Colorado to Lowell and Dorothy Lyon. She lived and went to school in Eads. As a child she enjoyed being in 4-H and sewing. She was very shy as a child. She left Eads at the age of 17, at which time she moved to Liberal, Kansas and married Ronald Eli Guinn. She then graduated high school in 1971in Liberal, Kansas. She gave birth to two beautiful daughters. One in 1972, Cassandra Dawnette Guinn, and one in 1978, Marla Lanett Guinn. She was a stay at home mom until 1981 when she went to work at National Beef. She worked there until 1989, at which time she returned to her roots in Eads to help take care of her dad and divorce Ronald.

When she returned to Eads she worked at Weisbrod Nursing Home in Dietary for 17 years. Also waiting tables at the local cafes. This is where she met Ted Dolph in 1991. They spent 21 years in love.

She bought the K & M Ranch House in 2006. She was scared the caf wouldnt make it. It was a very big undertaking for her. She soon realized how much she loved being apart of the community and seeing everyone everyday. She ran the caf even through her sickest times with breast cancer. She was diagnosed in June of 2009. After chemo and radiation she was unable to return full time, even when sick she would call to make sure everything was being ran her way.

Karalyn was a very strong woman. It broke her heart when her oldest daughter passed away in October of 2008, at the age of 36. She picked a star in the night sky to tell Cassandra everything that was going on in her life.

Karalyn is survived by many loving family members including; spouse, Ted Dolph, mother, Dorothy Lyon, daughter, Marla Rasmussen, brothers, Jim and Sheri Lyon, David and Bev Lyon, sisters, Maralyn Huskamp, Valerie Lyon, and Vickie Lyon, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services were held at the Methodist Church in Eads on Friday, October 5th, 2012. A special thanks to Jimmy Brown and Nancy Peacock. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to the account of Karalyn Lyon at the Kiowa County National Bank for Breast Cancer Awareness.
