Lawrence Larry Engstrom was born on December 21, 1933 in Cedar Smith County, Kansas to Carl and Ola Woods Engstrom. Larry passed away on August 18, 2014 at the home of his daughter, Jura in LaFayette, CO at the age of 80 years and 8 months.

Larrys parents employment required that Lawrence attend several public schools in Kansas. Carl and Ola divorced in 1942, then Lawrence and his sister Betty lived wherever his mother had employment, moving to Burlington, CO in 1949, where Lawrence graduated from Burlington High School with the class of 1952.

Larry joined the National Guard at the age of 17 and served for 11 years. His employment in the Guard resulted in the move to Englewood, and then Golden, CO where Lawrence went to work for Coors and retired from there in 1993 after 32 years.

In the fall of 1952, Lawrence met Nola Webster of Stratton, CO. They were married on October 4, 1953 at the Methodist Church in Stratton, celebrating 60 years of marriage last year. This union was blessed with Rex in 1955, Russell in 1957 and Jura in 1958. Lawrence was a volunteer fireman for over 25 years, first with Pleasant View (5 yrs) then Golden Fire Department for 20 years. While a member of the Golden Fire Department, he also served in several officer positions in the Colorado State Firefighters Association, retiring from Fire Service in 1986. Larry was very proud that his 2 sons and 1 grandson also served on Goldens Fire Department.

After retirement from Coors, Lawrence and Nola moved to Eads, Colorado where Larry was a member of the Eads Lions Club and the Eads United Methodist Church. Lawrence loved living in a small town and was happy to call Eads home. Many summers after moving to Eads were spent being campground hosts in National Forests and National Parks.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, sister, mother-in-law and several uncles, aunts and cousins. He is survived by his wife, Nola, sons: Rex (Connie) Engstrom of Golden, CO, Russell (Kathy) Engstrom of Golden, CO, daughter: Jura (John) Wilson of Lafayetta, CO, 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
