Margaret M. Sissy Patten was born on December 17, 1943 in Yuma County, CO one of 14 children born to Eca Curtis and Edith Frances (Andrews) Lightle and died on December 21, 2012 at the Lane County Hospital in Dighton, KS. Margaret attended school in Kirk, Co

On January 10, 1962 she married Melvin (Jim) Wilms, Sr.Jim and Sissy had 5 Children: Connie, Melvin, Larry, Kenny and Paul Dean. Throughout Margarets lifetime, she developed very close friendships and loved and adopted many children to include Tammy Thomas. After her divorce with Jim, Margaret married Patrick Patten in 1983 and later they were divorced in 1995.


Margaret was a devoted homemaker and babysitter and mother to her own children and the many children that she watched over and took care of for so many years. Margaret was called home to the Lord to help watch over children in Heaven following a valiant battle with cancer on December 21, 2012 at the Lane County Hospital in Dighton, KS.


Surviving her is her first husband, Melvin Jim Wilms Sr. of Cheyenne Wells, CO, her children: Connie (Wayne) Faulconer of Bonners Ferry, ID, Melvin (Heather) Wilms, Jr. of Dighton, KS, Larry (Carol) Wilms of Cheyenne Wells, CO. and Kenny Wilms of Garden City, KS as well as a close family friend Tammy (Mike) Thomas of Dighton, KS and many more loved and adopted children..

Margaret is also survived by her sisters: Eve (Sis) Davisson of OR, Linda (Bob) Heinze of Greeley CO, Tudy (Keith) Toland of Oxford, KS, by her brothers: Bill (Freda) Lightle of Burlington, CO, Dale Lightle of Idalia, CO, David (Wilma) Lightle of Clinton, MO, Carl (Carole) Lightle of New Mexico, Elmer (Sharon) Lightle of Goodland, KS and Larry (Kathy) Lightle of Kearney, NE. Margaret is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters, and infant baby Paul Dean Wilms.


Funeral services were held on Monday, December 24, 2012 at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Cheyenne Wells, CO with Pastor Mike Lewis officiating. Final committal services were held at the Arapahoe Cemetery in Arapahoe, CO. Memorial contributions can be sent to the Special Olympics.
