Marie H. Finke

Surface Creek area resident, Marie H. Finke, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2009, at Horizons Care Center in Eckert, Colorado. She would have celebrated her 101 birthday in just a few days.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Sunday, November 8, 2009, at the Cedaredge Seventh-day Adventist Church in Cedaredge, Colorado. Services will conclude at the church. Inurnment will be held at Eads Cemetery in Eads, Colorado, on Saturday November 14, 2009 at 1:00 P.M.

Marie H. Zorb was born to Albert and Pearl Zorb in Topeka, Kansas. She spent her childhood and attended school in Oszawki, Kansas. She furthered her education by attending a teachers college in Emporia, Kansas.

On April 1, 1927, Marie married Murl E. Bales in Pratt, Kansas. He preceded her in death. After Marie moved to Cedaredge, Colorado, She married Dr. Howard Finke in June, 2000. He preceded her in death on April 1, 2009 at Eckert, Colorado.

Marie was a homemaker. She loved to knit and crochet. She was always reading or doing crossword puzzles, which she said was one of her favorite pastimes. She enjoyed camping and traveling. All of her family was very precious to her.

Those grateful to have shared in Maries life include two sons: Jimmy Bales and his wife Elaine of Rocky Ford, CO and Myron Bales and his wife Jill of Cedaredge, CO; a daughter, Rosemarie Pollard of Penrose, CO. She is further survived by ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and twenty-six great-great-grandchildren.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; both of her husbands; a daughter, Dorothy Larrew; three brothers; one sister; one granddaughter, Lynne Pollard and one grandson, Edwin Larrew.
