Marilyn Bullock Obituary

Amy Marilyn Bullock was born to Helen and Edward Schneider on February 7, 1934 at Pagets Hotel in Kit Carson, CO. Even though her name was Amy she was known to everyone as Marilyn.

Marilyn received her entire education at the Kit Carson school. While in high school she was a cheerleader and was known for her high kicks, energetic personality. After graduating from high school she married Bennie Gibbs, to this union were born three sons Victor, Terry, and Brett. In 1967 Marilyn and Bennie bought their present ranch where she continued to reside until the time of her death. In 1977 she was Cheyenne County Farm Wife, but sadly to say she also lost her husband in 1977. After his death she continued to be active in the Kit Carson community in Cowbells, UMW, oil painting, and the Kit Carson Historical Society. She remained on the ranch with the assistance of her sons.

In 1980 she met Ralph while attending the Methodist Church Conference. On March 21, 1982 they were united in marriage in Kit Carson, CO. She then added three more children to call her mom. Ralphs children Launa, Greg, and Jim. Ralph being a minister of the Methodist Church took them to different communities including Holyoke, Holly, and La Junta. No matter what community she was in she was always involved in numerous activities such as playing the piano for church, UMW, and belonging to the womens bowling league.

In 1992 Ralph semi-retired from ministry and this allowed them to move back to Kit Carson the place she always called home. Ralph didnt remain semi-retired for long and began ministering again at the Kirk and Stratton church where Marilyn followed along and again developed an active part in the church and community.

When Ralph retired in 2000 she then was back to being active part of the community. Marilyn held almost every office in any organization that she was in but her love was playing the piano every Sunday at church. You could find her at the church on Thursday or Friday practicing. She would decorate the fellowship hall or the sanctuary for church that Sunday.

She always looked forward to Kit Carson Day. She enjoyed visiting with classmates and old friends. She looked forward to playing the piano for the melodrama when she could no longer be a can-can dancer. But most of all having her sisters visit. They would all get together at the Schneider house and people would say you could hear laughing and giggling several blocks away. You could also find her prize winning pies, cookies, and biscuits entered in the Kit Carson Day exhibits. She also received the Good Scout award in 2003.

Family was important to Marilyn. The visits from her kids, grand kids, and great grand kids were always special for her. She would always put others first. She liked to make sure others were taken care of especially when they came to visit and always making them her famous chocolate chip cookies, raisin pie, or cinnamon rolls. You could always find Marilyn at almost every basketball, volleyball game, or a concert that her grand kids or great grand kids would be involved in. She was an active supporter of the Kit Carson School programs whether it would be music, academic activities, or sports.
