Marion Henry Wamsley Obituary

Marion Henry Wamsley was born on September 26, 1942 in Coffeyville, KS to Mabel and Thaddeus Mumford Wamsley. Marion was the third child and the second son of the family. The family moved to Arapahoe, CO in 1945. At the age of 6, Marion contracted Rheumatic Fever which he survived. His survival from this gave him the nickname of Toughy by his father. Marion graduated from Arapahoe High School in 1960. He also served in the Colorado National Guard from 1965 to 1971. During this time in the Guard, he met his wife, Phyllis Trost. He and Phyllis met at a USO event in St. Louis, MO. They were married in St. Louis in 1967 and two years later their son David was born.

During Marions entire life, he ran the farm east of Arapahoe. However in 1975, when he was harvesting corn, he lost his left arm in a combine accident. He survived, but it greatly affected the rest of his life. He loved to work on vehicle and machinery. He loved to collect and tinker with things.

After his divorce from Phyllis, Marion loved to travel. He traveled around the world. In fact, he traveled to all of the continents. His son David has fond memories of traveling with Marion, especially across America. He also loved to go to the mountains and to go camping.

Marion Henry Wamsley died on February 6, 2012 at his home on the family farm east of Arapahoe, Colorado. He is survived by his son, David of St. Louis, MO. He is also survived by his brother Junior (Joyce) Wamsley of Vona, CO and by his sister Loretta (Chuck) Dunlop of Pueblo, CO. Marion is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
