Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 21, 2011 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Burlington, CO at 1:00 p.m.. Rev. Bill Viergutz will be officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Burlington.
Memorial contributions can be made to the William Hogate VFW Post #6491 in Burlington.
Milton (Pete) Conger, 87 yrs, passed away at Good Samaritan Society Loveland Village on October 16, 2011.
Pete was born in Quinter, KS on October 1,1924 to Harley and Pansy Bailey Conger. He moved with his parents to Burlington in 1935 where his brother Harley Jr. joined the family. Pansy died in 1939. Harley married Helene Rateuke Taylor in 1940. Daughters Shirley and Carole also joined the Conger family. Pete attended Burlington schools and graduated in 1943.
Pete enlisted in the Army upon graduation and served with the 79th Infantry Division in France and Germany. He was honorably discharged in January 1945.
Pete married Marjorie Schmidt on October 1, 1943. They celebrated their 68th Anniversary this year. Three daughters were born to them, Linda, Nancy and Connie.
Upon return from the Army, Pete joined his father Harley in construction. He later moved the family to Oak Creek, CO. and then Albin, Wy, for a number of years before returning to Burlington to work in construction. He and Marjorie moved to Glenwood Sps. Co. where he worked as a contractor. They moved back to Burlington upon retirement. He also built several buildings for the Old Town Museum.
Pete and Marge lived in Burlington until they sold their home to move to Stratton Assisted Living in Stratton, where they resided until January 2011. They then moved to Loveland Village Retirement Community in Loveland, CO to be closer to their daughters.
Pete was a member of the VFW, The Mayflower Society, and Trinity Lutheran Church.
Pete was preceded in death by his father, mother, step-mother, sister, two brother-in-laws, and one sister-in-law.
Pete is survived by Marjorie, Loveland, CO; daughters, Linda Malm of Cheyenne, WY; Nancy Conger Brown, Glenwood Springs, CO; and Connie Ogle of Sterling, CO. Brother Harley Conger of Renton, WA; Shirley Conger, Stratton Assisted Living, Stratton, CO. Pete has 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grand child.
