Naomi Jean (McGriff) Paintin was born to Lawrence and Clara (Mast) McGriff in Towner, CO on June 4, 1932. After a lengthy illness she passed away June 3, 2011 in Flagler, CO. The family moved to several locations in her early years before settling in Seibert, CO in 1947. She attended elementary school in Bird City, KS, and then some high school in Seibert before moving to Denver to live with an aunt. She finished High School through the mail from a school in Chicago. She took a business course through the mail and also a law course (to protect yourself) and your legal rights through the University of Nebraska.

On August 20, 1949 she and Garold Paintin from Stratton, CO were united in marriage in Colorado Springs, CO with their witnesses Harley and Eleanor Short.

Garold and Jean started their married life north of Stratton on the Newby place until Garold was drafted into the Army in 1954. During this army stint, Marilyn Sue was born in Minneral Wells, TX, in 1955, After coming home Garold and Jean lived at the home place of George and Agnes Paintin, Tony Ray was born in Burlington, CO in 1957. They bought the homestead after George died and remained there until they moved to Stratton in 2008. In March 2011 they moved into the Aspen Leaf assisted living in Flagler CO.

Jean was Garolds helpmate on the ranch doing chores, which included milking, feeding cows, pigs, chickens, dogs, and cats, growing gardens, and driving the truck to haul bales. In the summer of 1963, the big red barn burned down to the ground, but a new barn was constructed with the help of some neighbors, in 1975 they started another monumental task of building a new home. Jean designed and helped with most of the construction for their dream home which she was so proud of. She was a great cook and hostess who always had an open door for company. The coffee pot was always on and the house was never without goodies for anyone who either just dropped by or stayed a week. She was outgoing and was active in both of the kids school and extra curricular activities which included music, sports, and 4-H. Jean was a member of the Stratton Home Demonstration Club for many years, sold Studio Girl Cosmetics and worked for several years as a waitress at the Ramada Inn in Burlington. Jean always kept busy with sewing for kids and grandkids or building projects large or small.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Clara, sisters: Arlene Felzien, Eleanor Short, Eunice Eller, Brothers; Willis and Delmar. Jean is survived by her husband of 62 years, Garold. She is also survived by her daughter Marilyn (Randy) Movrud and her son Tony (Susie) Paintin, her grandchildren: Julie (Justin) Golden, Billy Cranmer, Christina (Johan) Marquardt, Kathleen (Michael) Collins; Lisa (Gerardo) Gonzalez, 7 Great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews..
