Patrick Lee Walsh Obituary

Patrick Lee Walsh, 26, joined his beloved friends Ryan, Dave and Bryan to play soccer on Heaven's team on April 5, 2008.

Patrick was the grandson of the late Wilbur and Doris Alvey, of Arapahoe, Colo. and the late Harold and Ruth Walsh of Alamosa, Colo.

Patrick was delivered at home by his father on Aug. 22, 1981. He was baptized at Sacred Heart Church and his Godparents are Fernando and Priscilla Martinez of San Luis, Colo.

Patrick accepted Jesus Christ into his life, intensely studying his Holy Bible and often sharing scriptures with his family and friends. To many, Patrick was affectionately known as 'Atsa-Yaazh' or Young Eagle. This honor was given him by his Navajo family, Denison and Marie Smith of Gallup, N.M. Atsa knew, and held sacred, the ways of the Great Spirit, Mother Earth and the path of the Native American Church. Atsa walked in

Harmony.

Atsa was also known to national and Colorado ABA BMX racing. His favorite BMX track was Rad River Raceway where he flew to several state championships as an

expert rider in both class and cruiser divisions. He also won several national BMX races and both his bikes rode plate #1.

Patrick was a natural athlete and intense competitor, excelling at wrestling. Early on in his career he never won a match, seeing only the lights above until the idea came to him that winning really was fun and those lights bright. He disliked losing but never cried when he did.

He became a three time state champion for Alamosa High School. His senior year he received the honor of class 4A Outstanding Wrestler. Wrestling afforded him the opportunity to travel to Alaska and represent his nation throughout Europe. He talents gained him international acclaim.

Patrick was always composed and fearless whether on horseback in the hills with Seth, Mark and his father, fishing and hunting or assisting his father delivering his baby sister, Maurene. Patrick never wavered, always meeting the challenge.

Patrick loved the earth, digging huge holes in it as a child and later as a man, excelling in precision concrete work. He carried on this love affair with the family's Lazy Y Arrow Ranch where he spent his last days tending the animals, gardening, and hunting for

arrowheads. His many craftmanship projects will stand for decades.

His future aspirations included showing his beloved Tennessee Walking Horses, continuing to educate himself in equine breeding with an emphasis on color

genetics, and attending horse shoeing school. Plans for the Screaming Eagle Concrete Company, spearheaded by Patrick, are underway.

Patrick will be remembered as a fearless free spirit with a mischievous, infectious smile. He could charm you out of everything you owned and, out of generosity, would offer the shirt off of his own back. His family remembers his heart of passion, capable of grace. He lived a very rich and full life celebrating to the very end.

Patrick is survived by his parents, Delene and John; sisters Collene and Maurene; brothers Michael and Daniel; loyal and faithful 'sons' Bear and Osito, his Uncle Kevin (Val) Alvey, Aunt Kay Walsh, multiple cousins, Jazzel, and many beloved friends who he considered family.

Patrick was cremated and his remains are being scattered in the places he loved, by the people who love him.

A private memorial was held on 4-20. Memorial contributions are being handled by Brown Funeral home, Cheyenne Wells, CO and may be made to the Arapahoe Community Church, the Patrick Walsh Memorial Fund, or the charity of your choice.

Cards of condolence may reach Delene Walsh at 26385 Hwy 385; Arapahoe, CO 80802.
