Rita St. Clair Obituary

Rita St. Clair was born in Burlington, CO on July 8, 1947 to Claude and

Veronica Mahlberg Ambrosier. She attended the schools in Cheyenne

Wells and graduated from Cheyenne Wells High School in May 1966. On

July 25, 1969 she married Jack St. Clair in Oskaloosa, KS and they

moved to Topeka, KS after they were married. They then moved to

Sheridan Lake, CO where Rita worked at the cafe in town. Later they

moved to Cheyenne Wells where she began working as a cook at the

Cheyenne Wells school in 1982. Rita worked at the school until she

was forced to retire in 2007 because of her illness.

After she was released from the hospital Rita spent six weeks in Denver

receiving radiation treatments. During this time she received numerous

cards and letters from friends, family and the school kids. She

especially loved the ones from the kids. They were about the only ones

who could make her smile.

In December 2009 Rita found out that the cancer had returned and she

said "I think maybe it's time to go out on the hill with Jack, Grandma,

Grandpa and your mom and have some peace."
