Ronald Bullock Obituary

Ronald Hickman Bullock was born July 25, 1931 to Francis Hickman and Alta Hazel (Sronce) Bullock at Columbus, Nebraska, the only son of eight children and died at his home Saturday, September 8, 2007 at the age of 76 years, 1 month, and 25 days. As a young boy he moved with his family to Madrid and graduated with the Class of 1950 from Madrid High School.

After Ron completed his education he moved to Wahoo where he worked as a press operator for the Wahoo Press newspaper for 20 years before moving to Denver, Colorado. Arriving in Denver, he began an 18-year career with Kistler Geographics again as the press operator, working until he was disabled. While living in Denver, Ron became an active member and supporter of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was president of his local club, worked throughout the State and after he was disabled spent many hours volunteering for various Eagle projects, including serving as chair of the fundraising committee for Hospice-raising more than $250,000. He also helped JoEllen in her upholstery business Rocky Mountain Cushions whenever he could.

In 1999 they moved to Friend where Rons love of sports and especially the Nebraska Huskers was shown to everyone. He also enjoyed coaching little league baseball, both in Friend and in the early years at Wahoo. He also enjoyed golfing and league bowling. All of Rons family members were precious to him, especially those he raised by being their nanny.

Ron is survived by his wife, JoEllen Bullock of Friend, nine children and spouses, Kim and Don Medna of Colon, Michael and Patty Bullock of Yutan, Terry and LeAnn Bullock of Wahoo, Keri Bullock of Friend, Donita and Dave Hagen of Dallas, TX, Dorothy and Ted Hamilton of Rock Springs, WY, Debra and John Quick of Denver, CO, James and Lynn Jackson of Brighton, CO and Carol and Paul Johansen of Friend. 20 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, two sisters: Dorothy Aten of Denver, CO and Karen Archer of Pensacola, FL, several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, a granddaughter, Taren Elizabeth Bullock, five sisters and one son, Billy.

Memorial services were held Tuesday, September 11th at the United Church of Christ in Friend, Nebraska. Committal services were held Wednesday, September 12th at the Eads Cemetery in Eads, Colorado.
