Shirley Lee Weirich was born November 7, 1935 to John and Ava Holman in Ft. Lyon, CO. Shirley grew up in Las Animas, CO. She married Lane Jack Weirich on June 3, 1953. Jack and Shirley built their home south of Galatea, CO. They had 4 children: Rex, April, Alice & Penny. Jack and Shirley raised cattle and grew wheat. Among many other animals on the farm, Shirleys prized possession was her donkey. She also loved to tend to her garden and bake so many treats. Shirley loved to go dancing and always had a smile on her face. Shirley is survived by her children Rex (Joyce), April, Alice & Penny, her 6 grandchildren, siblings Gene (Janet), Wilda, Jimmy (Sandy) and Bonnie(Bill). Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Jack, her parents John & Ava Holman, and her sisters Ludina and Lela Faye.
Shirley Weirich died on June 25, 2009 at the Assured Assisted Living Center in Castle Rock, CO with her family by her side. Funeral services were held on Sunday June 28, 2009 at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Eads with Pastor Zabriskie of the Eads Assembly of God officiating. Shirleys daughter selected the musical selections, Ten Thousand Angels, The Old Rugged Cross and How Great Thou Art. The ladies of the Eads Assembly of God Church served as vocalists accompanied by Jimmy Brown. Cheryl Wyatt provided the prelude and postlude music. Serving as casketbearers were Larry Michael, Larry Watts, Bill Wilcox, Gary Rehm, Troy Geringer and Rich Hockett. Final Committal services were held at the Eads Cemetery. Friends and family can register online condolences and sign the guest book at www.brownfuneraldirectors.com. Funeral services were entrusted to the care of the Brown Funeral Home in Eads.
