Virginia Lucille Miller Obituary

Virginia Lucille Lucy Miller was born on November 22, 1924 in Newton, Kansas to Beulah Mae (Stepleton) and Glenn H. Will. Her older sister Emma Glendeen was there to welcome her home. Then 3 years later they welcomed a baby brother, Harold Eugene to the family. Lucille attended school in Wichita, KS then in Enid, OK where she graduated. It was while attending school in Enid that she met the love of her life, Billy Dale Miller. They were engaged in 1943 before B.D. entered the military, where he served in WWII during the Philippines campaign. While waiting for Billy to come home, Lucille spent her time working at the BX and at the Dime Store. She also made time to hang around with her girlfriends doing girly things.

Once Billy returned to Enid, they began to make wedding plans. On October 5, 1946 they were married. The couple honeymooned in Canada and the northern United States before returning to Cheyenne Wells to help with the maize harvest. Then they returned to Oklahoma to pack up and begin the long move to Cheyenne Wells. They settled on a farmstead that is located 1 mile west of Louis Engelbrechts. Shortly after this they found out they were expecting an addition to the family. When Lucille was close to being due, they packed up and went to Enid to stay with family and friends until they had the baby. Eulalah Jane Lolly was born on September 28, 1947. One day too early to be a birthday present for B.D. The new family stayed in Enid for a few months visiting with family and friends before returning to Cheyenne Wells to enjoy family and farm life. They then moved to a house on Road 43 so they would have more room for their growing family. So when Lucille was expecting their second child they once again headed to Oklahoma to be with family and friends until the baby came. Sandra Jo Sandy made her appearance on January 8, 1950.

In 1961 they built the new house on Road 44 where they lived until Bills death in 2003. Lucille and B.D. enjoyed traveling together in their motor home, and trying all of the wonderful foods, and festivities to be found. They could always find souvenirs to bring home to their family. They also spent a great deal of time at their cabin in Green Mountain Falls, Colorado. The day before her birthday in 2004, Lucille made the decision to make Cheyenne Manor her home, to be around her friends. During her time at the Manor, Lucille renewed many an old friendship and made new friendships too.

Lucille passed away peacefully on the morning of November 13, 2008. She was preceded in death by her parents Glenn and Beulah Will, brother Harold Will and her beloved husband Billy Dale. Lucille is survived by her children Eulalah Lolly (Dean) Schick and Sandra Sandy (Ed) Spainhower, granddaughters Lori (Mark) Weiand, Lindi (Paul) Dwyer, Nicole (Billy) Stolzenberger, Lacy (Chad) Lawrence, great grandchildren Ashley and Zackery Clyncke, Jayda, Joslyn and Janessa Dwyer, Brock and Rocky Weiand, one sister Emma Glendeed and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Monday November 17, 2008 at the Cheyenne Wells Christian Church with Rev. Martin Davis officiating.
