Zachariah David Splitter Obituary

Zachariah David Splitter was born August 14, 1994 at Prowers Medical Center in Lamar Colorado to David and Dennill Splitter. He passed away at Lamar on May 26, 2007 after a motorcycle accident.

Zach, as first born, weighed in at 8 pounds 14 ounces, making him the fourteenth grandchild of Eugene and Judy Splitter. He was the first grandchild to Graham and Susan Rees, and also the first great-grandchild of Albert and Elaine Amundson. Zach was an overflowing ball of energy and quickly spread smiles to the faces of those who were blessed to watch him grow. His father quickly gave him the nickname "Buster Boo", apparently because that's the only thing proud Papa could think of.

Zach was not doomed to a destiny of loneliness as a sister named Alyssa was born when he was one and a half years old, followed by a brother, Seth at the age of three, a sister, Lydia at five, brother Benjamin at seven, and lil sister Ella at twelve. These were just enough for a basketball team, and yet he could still be coach.

Zach trusted Christ as his Savior when he prayed with his Mother and as earnestly as a five year old can, asked Jesus to take away all his sin, lead him every day of his life, and save a place for him in Heaven. He made his profession of faith by baptism at the Sheridan Lake Bible Church in February of 2004.

Zach had many interests including but not limited to hunting, basketball, baseball, and motorcycling. He was a fast learner and was starting his quest to join Tiger Woods on the links. After an extended wake up period in the mornings, Zach loved to help with the Cubbies at Awanas, to spend time with his cousins, help his dad sack seed, and make as many people as he could, smile.

Zach was preceded in death by his grandmother, Susan Rees, five great grandparents, and an uncle, Daniel Splitter.

He is survived by his parents: David N. and Dennill D. Splitter of Sheridan Lake; 3 sisters: Alyssa, Lydia and Ella Joy Splitter all of the family home; 2 brothers: Seth and Benjamin Splitter both of the family home; aunts and uncles: Mark (Ruth) Splitter, Mike (Patty) Splitter, Phil Splitter, Paul (Donna) Splitter, Susan (Jay) Specht, Sharon (Mike) Arns, Thaddeus (Rebecca) Rees and Elizabeth (Pat) Campbell; grandparents: Eugene and Judy Splitter, Graham and Kathy Rees; great grandparents: Pauline Splitter, Marie Thyne and Albert Amundson; 27 first cousins, as well as many other family and friends.

A Remembrance and Celebration of Zachs life was held Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at 3 p.m. at the Sheridan Lake Bible Church in Sheridan Lake, Colorado with the Pastor Larry Gitchel officiating. Musical selections How Great Thou Art and Home Free were performed and accompanied by Burl Scherler on the piano and Joann Harris on the organ.

Casket bearers were Mark Splitter, Mike Splitter, Phil Splitter, Paul Splitter, Thaddeus Rees, Pat Campbell, Jay Specht, Mike Arns. Honorary casket bearers were Jeremy Splitter, Daniel Splitter, Jason Specht, Luke Specht, Wesley Arns, Jonathan Splitter. Final committal services were held at the Fairview Cemetery in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Brown Funeral Home.
